Italian Space Agency poster (February 2026)¶
Document: ip-asi.pdf, one page, 4,417,064 bytes, from https://www.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/
(sources/manifest.csv). NASA's Architecture Workshops page: "International partner poster from the 2026 Moon
to Mars Architecture workshop co-hosted by the Italian Space Agency in Rome, Italy. Hosted here with partner
permission" (Architecture Workshops page). The workshop was on
24–25 February 2026 (deck). Text:
sources/text/docs/2026-03-ip-asi.txt; image sources/raw/slides/2026-03-ip-asi/slide-01.jpg, read for the
layout (the text layer runs the columns together). Footer: "2026 Moon to Mars Architecture Workshops", "NASA x
ASI", the workshop's co-branding, as on five of the other posters (not ASA's or GISTDA's).
Whose material. ASI's own poster, not NASA's architecture (SCHEMA, "Workshop slides"). Everything below is what ASI's poster says.
Summary. "Italian Space Agency - ASI, Italy": three pictures and three columns. The pictures are captioned "Multipurpose Habitation Module (MPH)" (a module on wheels, "Credits TAS-I / ASI"), "Oxygen Retrieval Asset by Carbothermal-reduction in Lunar Environment (ORACLE)" ("Credits OHB-I / ASI") and an uncaptioned rendering of a surface base ("Credits INAF/ ASI").
What the poster says¶
"Unique National Capabilities", as printed:
- "Habitation and Logistic (pressurized) Modules: ISS, Lunar Gateway, Artemis MPH"
- "Drilling and Sampling Device: SD2 (Sample Drill and Distribution for Rosetta Lander), DEEDRI (for ESA Lunar PROSPECT package), ExoMars Rover Drill and Sample collection system"
- "Nanosatellites: ArgoMoon (on board Artemis-1) LICIACube (on board NASA DART mission)"
- "Innovative mobility/locomotion: specific applications like MPH module logistic relocation"
- "Dexterous Manipulators: STA (Sample Transfer Arm for MSR)"
- "Comm& Nav: LuGRE (GNSS receiver)"
"Areas of Strategic Interest" (two columns), as printed:
- "In-Situ Resources Utilization – ISRU: from resource assessment (e.g. IT leadership in ESA PROSPECT payload for volatiles detection) to demonstration of extraction processes (e.g. national ORACLE project for oxygen extraction) and regolith processing for in-situ manufacturing"
- "Scientific observations of the Earth as well as of astrophysical targets by payload operating on the Moon surface"
- "Ground Analogues": "Bedrest, Isolation, Confinement"; "Simulation Chambers"; "Extraterrestrial Sample Curation Facility"
- "EMM – Earth Moon Mars (observatory from the Moon surface of Earth, Mars and beyond)": "Polarization induced by interstellar dust"; "Electromagnetic Monitor in X-rays"; "Earth-Temperature Observatory"
- "Astrobiology"; "ISS human research studies"
- "Surface and subsurface Study: Mineralogy, Ice Signature, Dust Characterizations, Geology (Lava Tubes)"
- "Radiation environment study"
Against the architecture (the wiki's comparison)¶
- MPH. The Ignition release of 24 March 2026, a month after the workshop, names "ASI's (Italian Space Agency) Multi-purpose Habitats (MPH)" among the partner contributions of Moon Base Phase Three (Missions and assets). ASI's poster expands the same acronym as "Multipurpose Habitation Module", lists "Artemis MPH" among its pressurized modules, and names "MPH module logistic relocation" as a mobility application. It gives no phase, date, size or crew, and doesn't say "Moon Base" (searched). It doesn't relate the MPH to the ADD's Initial Surface Habitat, and neither does the wiki.
- ADD Rev C on ASI. RT-1 lists ASI among nine agencies in joint technical studies and among the Artemis I CubeSat providers (ADD Rev C, pp. 84–86; RT-1); the poster's ArgoMoon "on board Artemis-1" is on the same subject.
- ORACLE is ASI's oxygen-extraction project. The ADD's oxygen gap is #0601; the poster doesn't cite it, and the wiki doesn't pair them (open question 85).
