Summary. The new directorate's reference page: what it does and who leads it, four months after the realignment. The ADD was published by its predecessor, the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ADD Rev C source page).
Key points¶
- What it does. "The Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate leads NASA's human spaceflight and space-enabling activities across low Earth orbit, the Moon, and beyond. The directorate provides unified leadership for the agency's systems, operations, and architectures to deliver on the next era of human spaceflight."
- Origin. "The realignment unified the Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate and Space Operations Mission Directorate as the Human Spaceflight Mission Directorate."
- Leadership. Associate Administrator Dr. Lori Glaze; deputies Joel Montalbano and Kelvin Manning; executive directors for "Enterprise Operations" (Brian Dewhurst) and "Enterprise Strategy" (Alesyn Lowry).
- Directorate offices: Business Office; "Mission Alignment & Integration Office"; "Space Traffic Operations Risk Management Office"; Human Research Program.
- Directorate programs: Low Earth Orbit (Dana Weigel), Artemis (Jeremy Parsons), Moon Base (Carlos GarcĂa-Galán), and "Commercial Access to Space" (Bradley Smith), a program the May release and note don't list.
What it doesn't say¶
- Its leadership list names no Strategy and Architecture Office, the office that led the architecture under ESDMD (Architecture definition process). The page doesn't say where that work now sits. An omission, not a statement that the office is gone.
- The org chart is an image (
